Getting Started

Adding Items to Tracker

There are three ways to add items:
  1. Browse the Internships feed
  2. Click the Bookmark icon on any internship card
  3. The internship is automatically added with “Not Applied” status
You must be logged in to use the Tracker. All data is synced to your account and accessible across devices.

Tracker Interface

Tab Switcher

Toggle between two views:
  • Internships Tab: Shows only saved internships
  • Opportunities Tab: Shows only saved opportunities (hackathons, grants, competitions, ideathons)
The active tab is highlighted in white, and the URL updates to reflect your selection (e.g., /tracker?tab=internship).

Main List View

Table Format with columns:
  • Title: Internship/opportunity name (clickable to view details)
  • Company/Organizer: Organization name
  • Location: City or “Remote”
  • Deadline: Application due date with countdown
  • Status: Dropdown to update progress
  • Actions: View details, delete from tracker
Features:
  • Priority Highlighting: Rows with deadlines within 7 days show a yellow/amber border
  • Sorting: Automatically sorted by deadline (earliest first)
  • Hover Effects: Row highlights on hover for easy reading

Status Management

Each tracked item has a status dropdown with the following options:

Not Applied

Initial State: Item is saved but you haven’t applied yet.What to do:
  • Review the job description
  • Prepare your resume and cover letter
  • Set a reminder for the deadline

Draft

Application in Progress: You’ve started the application but haven’t submitted.What to do:
  • Complete application forms
  • Upload documents
  • Proofread before submitting

Applied

Submitted: You’ve sent your application.What to do:
  • Note the application date
  • Wait for a response (typically 1-2 weeks)
  • Send a follow-up if needed

Shortlisted

Under Review: You’ve received an interview call or moved to the next round.What to do:
  • Prepare for interviews
  • Research the company
  • Use FTB Hustle toolkits for interview prep

Selected

Offer Received: Congratulations! You got the internship/opportunity.What to do:
  • Accept the offer
  • Complete onboarding steps
  • Update your LinkedIn profile

Rejected

Not Selected: Unfortunately, you didn’t make it this time.What to do:
  • Don’t be discouraged - rejection is part of the process
  • Request feedback (if possible)
  • Apply to more opportunities
  • Improve your resume using toolkits
Update your status as soon as you make progress. This keeps your tracker accurate and provides better analytics.

Tracking Insights

Click “Check Insights” to expand the analytics panel:

Key Metrics

Total Tracked

Number of internships/opportunities you’ve savedFormula: Count of all items in current tab

Success Rate

Percentage of applications that resulted in selectionFormula: (Selected ÷ Total Applications) × 100Example: 3 selected out of 10 applied = 30% success rate

Action Rate

Percentage of saved items you’ve actually applied toFormula: (Applied + Shortlisted + Selected + Rejected) ÷ Total Tracked × 100Example: 8 applied out of 12 saved = 67% action rate
Success Rate only considers items with status “Applied” or beyond (excludes “Not Applied” and “Draft”).

Mobile Insights View

On mobile, insights are consolidated into a single card showing:
  • Top row: Total Tracked and Success Rate side-by-side
  • Bottom section: Action Rate in a highlighted box

Low Action Rate? You’re saving too many opportunities without applying. Focus on quality over quantity.

Deadline Management

Priority Indicators

Deadlines are color-coded:
  • Red/Amber Border: Deadline within 7 days (high priority)
  • Normal: Deadline more than 7 days away
  • Gray: No deadline set or deadline passed

Sorting

The tracker automatically sorts items by deadline:
  1. Earliest deadlines first (most urgent at the top)
  2. Items with no deadline appear at the bottom
Items with approaching deadlines are pinned to the top. Review these daily to avoid missing opportunities!

Integration with Calendar

Your tracked items automatically appear in:
  • Calendar Widget (on Opportunities and Internships pages)
  • Task Widget showing upcoming deadlines as tasks

Taking Action

Viewing Details

Click on any tracked item to:
Redirects to /intern/{id} showing:
  • Full job description
  • Company information
  • Application link
  • Deadline and stipend details

Deleting Items

Remove items from your tracker:
  1. Click the Delete/Trash icon next to the item
  2. Confirm the deletion (optional confirmation dialog)
  3. The item is removed from your tracker (does not delete the original listing)
Deleting from the tracker does not affect the original internship/opportunity. Other users can still see and bookmark it.

Premium Toolkit Promotion

At the top of the tracker, you’ll see a “10x Chances” button:
  • Links to the Toolkits page
  • Promotes premium resources to improve your success rate
  • Includes courses on:
    • Resume optimization
    • Interview preparation
    • LinkedIn profile building
    • Salary negotiation
Students who complete resume and interview toolkits report a 2-3x increase in callback rates.

Best Practices

  • Update statuses immediately: Don’t let your tracker get outdated
  • Set realistic goals: Aim for an 80%+ action rate (apply to 80% of saved items)
  • Review weekly: Spend 10 minutes each week updating your tracker
  • Focus on deadlines: Prioritize items with approaching deadlines
  • Delete irrelevant items: If you’re no longer interested, remove it to keep your tracker clean
  • Quality over quantity: Apply to roles you’re genuinely qualified for
  • Tailor applications: Customize your resume and cover letter for each role
  • Apply early: Submit applications as soon as possible, not on the deadline
  • Follow up: Send a polite follow-up email 1-2 weeks after applying
  • Learn from rejections: Ask for feedback and identify areas to improve
  • Use notes: Add application passwords, portal links, or interviewer names (feature coming soon)
  • Set reminders: Use the calendar widget to plan your application schedule
  • Separate tabs: Keep internships and opportunities in different tabs for clarity
  • Regular cleanup: Archive or delete old items once the deadline has passed

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! Your tracker is only visible to you. Other users cannot see what you’ve bookmarked or your application statuses.
Absolutely. Your tracker syncs across all devices where you’re logged in. Updates on one device instantly appear on others.
Currently, deletions are permanent. We recommend bookmarking the internship/opportunity again from the main feed. An “undo” feature is planned for future releases.
Ensure the status is set to “Selected” (not “Shortlisted”). Also, success rate only calculates from items with status “Applied” or beyond - if you haven’t marked any as “Applied”, the rate will be 0%.
Yes, using Manual Entry (coming soon). This lets you add external internships/opportunities not listed on FTB Hustle.
